Mini Red Robin Tomato

Lycopersicon esculentum

Nellie Kelly’s Mini ‘Red Robin’ Tomato is a dwarf variety suitable for growing in pots on your window sill or patio. They are also great in the vegetable patch or garden bed.

Nellie Kelly’s Mini ‘Red Robin’ Tomato is a quick growing, compact bush up to 30cm tall that thrives in medium to large pots in the full sun. Premium potting mix with regular liquid fertiliser promotes healthy growth and will ensure abundant yields. Use an organic fertiliser rich in phosphorus (to promote blossoms and fruit), nitrogen (to promote lush vegetative growth) and potassium (to prevent disease).

The best time for planting is late winter, early spring allowing ample time for the bush to establish before fruiting. Adequate water will ensure the ripening tomatoes are plump and juicy while staking will support their extra weight. Expect each bush to produce around 60 pieces of fruit from early summer to late autumn.

When planting in the ground, try placing your Mini ‘Red Robin’ Tomato near companion plants such as celery, geraniums, petunias, nasturtium, borage, basil, oregano, parsley, carrots and marigolds. Avoid planting near cabbage, corn, fennel, peas, dill, potatoes, beetroot, kale or rosemary.
